Tribal Fusion Belly Dance – Tue 7.30 to 9.45

The Belly Dance sessions are split into 2 hours.

In the first hour we will learn and dance “American Tribal Style” moves (ATS) a beautiful improvised group dance lead by instinctive cues, evoking the powerful mesmerizing energy of women.

Both classes will include some yoga based stretches for warm up and cool down, posture alignment for dance and brake down of technique practiced through repetition.

Drop in: £7 for 1 class or £14 for both
6 week booking: £6 for 1 class or £12 for both

In the second hour we will fuse the ATS moves with other dance forms characteristic of “Tribal Fusion Belly Dance.”

Tribal Fusion Belly Dance is a modern form of belly dance which has evolved from American Tribal Style belly dancing, blending elements of ATS with any other style of dance. It frequently incorporates elements from Popping, Hip-hop, Breakdance, ‘Egyptian’ or ‘Cabaret’ belly dance, as well as from traditional forms such as Flamenco, Kathak, Bhangra, Balinese, and other folkloric dance styles.

I have always been fascinated with traditional tribal cultures and their strong visual image, especially adornments and ritual. In my youth I travelled Europe to see some of the major “Art works” of mankind and took a degree in Public art/conceptual art at Chelsea art school in London. After which I travelled through India and Asia for sixteen months in search of cultures deeper and older. This led me to study meditation, shamanic healing and body work. My intention with my “work” is to create a magical, other worldly moment in which the observer may respond with emotion or deep recognition. If image is rich enough we will fill the gaps with human stories, like the body’s connective tissue.
